Feeling Patriotic? It’s British Beef week. To fill you with delicious patriotism, we’ve found five London steakhouses serving the best British beef.
The Jones Family Project, Shoreditch
Located in Shoreditch, the Jones Family Project is a modern steakhouse serving arguably the tastiest steak in London
The secret behind the taste? Carefully sourced beef from the rare breed British Longhorn cow and a magician behind the Josper oven. Price guide: £££
Hawksmoor has set the benchmark for London steak houses since 2006. Its steakhouses serve consistently good beef from rare-breed British cows in a relaxed setting.
Hawkmoor’s newest restaurant, a stone’s through from the famous Borough market, combines well sourced beef with excellent grilling and outstanding service. Price guide: ££££
Blacklock is more chophouse than steakhouse, but serves brilliant and reasonably priced beef.
The cocktails, priced at £5, are stupidly good and the Sunday roast is the best in town. Price guide: ££
Goodman Canary Wharf
Serving British beef from Yorkshire (alongside USDA beef) Goodman is an established steakhouse with excellent beef. It has a slightly more formal feel to it than Hawksmoor, but it’s still pretty good, man. Price guide: ££££
Flat Iron Covent Garden
Flat Iron has a simple proposition: a steak and only one kind of steak (for £11). The quality, taste, cooking and service makes Flat Iron the best value steak in London.
Visiting the Covent Garden restaurant will also get you a sweet surprise; a free salted caramel ice cream. Though, with a walk-in only policy and a wait time of up to two hours, you can claim you’ve earned it. Price guide: £
